Infant Safety Checklists
Unstable Objects
Serious injury can occur when an infant or toddler pulls or tips a large heavy item down onto himself. Remove, secure or reposition items that are unstable. Following is a list of common items that can present a danger:

Ironing Boards - never leave the ironing board out with an iron placed on it. Aside from the electrical risk, the iron itself can cause serious injury.

Tablecloths - from an infant or toddlers perspective, tablecloths provide a nice hand hold for pulling themselves up. This will result in the contents of the table landing on your child, some of the items may be heavy, hot, or both!.

Televisions should be placed securely on a stable surface far enough back that they will not tip. TVs are front heavy and often rather easy to tip over since the screen is much heavier than the rest of the box.

Bookshelves - should be anchored to the wall to prevent tipping if your baby or toddler tries to climb up on the shelves.

Furniture with Drawers - Drawers should always be kept closed, otherwise your infant or toddler may attempt to climb up on the drawers, thus tipping the item.

Large Decorative Items - such as statues, plant stands, and large figurines can present a tipping hazard
