husband and I recently found out that our 2-year old son has mild
autism. In addition to many other symptoms, he has been completely
non-verbal. As we were understandably devastated, we started
researching and reading everything we could find. One day I happened
upon a link to your site that listed several comments / testimonials
from parents of autistic children who have your videos. The comments
intrigued me, and although I didn't see your videos as any kind
of "miracle cure" for lack of speech, I looked at your
site and liked what I saw. I decided to give it a try and ordered
the first of the Vocabulary Builder videos on DVD.
Starting
with the very first viewing, my son was entranced. He loved the
music and the pictures, and reacted in obvious ways by smiling,
cooing, and gazing at the screen in rapt attention. Since his speech
therapy service has not started yet, we decided to make the video
part of his daily routine and to make sure that he viewed it at
least once per day.
Now
skip ahead two weeks: my previously completely non-verbal autistic
son is now repeating almost every single word on that video!
It is truly amazing. I thought it would help, but I didn't think
that his vocabulary would explode, and it has. He is now repeating
words on the video, repeating words on other videos, repeating words
that we say to him, and associating words with people and pictures.
We can only attribute this improvement to the video, as it was the
first thing that we've tried as part of our own interim speech therapy.
As soon as we "save up", I'm planning on purchasing the
rest of the set as soon as possible!
To

Baby Bumble Bee,
You
have truly been one of the most beneficial "therapists"
in my boys' lives. Both have been diagnosed with Sensory
Integration Disorder with Autistic characteristics. Our largest
clue to their disorder was their profound speech delay. My oldest
son (now 4 1/2) had maybe 10 words at 2 1/2 years old. My husband
and I were desperate to hear his little voice and through research
found out about your website. We bought tape 1 and after
the first viewing, my beautiful son said "Dog...woof wooof!".
I couldn't believe it...so of course we bought the rest of the series.
Over a period of weeks he picked up numerous words and was using
them as he saw them in his environment: bus, cow, bicycle...he eventually
learned all of them off the set of 5 tapes. No speech therapist,
occupational therapist, doctor or loving Mom or Dad could get my
child to initiate speech. Somehow, your tapes taught my child to
initiate speech.
Our
second son also has profound speech delay. He has had speech for
several months and I, of course, have been working with him consistently.
We have shown him your tapes quite frequently. He must now be ready
developmentally to speak, because he is just doing so wonderfully
with your tapes. All he wants to watch are your tapes and
he has increased his vocabulary by probably 25 words over the last
week. Funny, it isn't the words that the speech therapist
is teaching, or even me but the words he learns on the tapes. It's
never easy to raise children with developmental delays, but I am
so thankful that you have been there as a huge HELP! I showed these
tapes to the speech therapist and she has just purchased one for
her niece and is now recommending them to her clients. She said
"They just did it right!"
I
highly recommend your tapes to anyone who has typically developing
children, but especially to parents who feel they have tried everything.
Don't give up hope...these tapes changed my children’s lives.
My husband is a physician and I am a PA (now staying at home). We
have found nothing in the medical community that has helped our
boys more than Baby Bumble Bee's tapes.

Hi,
I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how GREAT the BumbleBee
video's are. My son, who has been diagnosed PDD truly enjoys watching
the tapes and has learned all of the objects on all the tapes. Not
only does Daniel, who is 3, enjoy them but our daughter, who is
typical, loves them too, she's almost 2 and is actually very advanced
for her age. I know the video's helped her speak earlier, and helped
Daniel start speaking. I read one of your "satisfied customer"
letters and the author was right, it helps the PDD and autistic
children generalize and realize a cat can be an animal, a statue,
a picture, a stuffed animal, an animation, etc.
Over
the summer we went to the Philadelphia Zoo for Daniel's birthday
and realized that we knew many of the animals from your video! The
tiger was as playful when we saw him as he is in the tape, the bear's
were having a good time and the elephants were cheerful too. I think
the kids felt the "familiarity" too and really enjoyed
the trip. Daniel labeled many of the animals unprompted by anybody!!
We have lots of hope for Daniel and are grateful to
your videos for helping him through some tough times.
I also
view the video's as "guilt free" for me, if I have to
do something like make dinner or straighten up, I don't like ignoring
the kids and I don't want Daniel being idle or engaging in inappropriate
behavior so I just pop in one of the bee tapes and they get an education.
The kids actually seem more attentive to these tapes than they do
regular stuff like Blues Clues or Elmo. I also prefer the bee tapes
before bed time, the kids don't get riled up (even my husband and
I find them to be relaxing because of the music)."

I just
wanted to drop you a note and thank you for your wonderful products.
When we first purchased the set of 5 videos a year ago, our son,
Ryan, had not yet been diagnosed with autism. At that time,
he was 19 months old and could say 3 words. Shortly after his diagnosis,
I saw an article at epinions.com that praised your series and remembered
that I had purchased them (lots of videos were put away at the recommendation
of his neurologist). Within five weeks he knew all the words on
the first and second videos.
Today,
Ryan is 2 1/2 and has come incredibly far. He regularly asks me
to "watch Bumblebees?" and sits, smiling for the entire
video. The great thing about your product is the presentation.
Many times, children with spectrum disorders such as autism are
unable to understand that a cat can be many things: a toy, a pet,
a costume, a shaped cookie cutter, etc. Through the series, our
son has taken this concept and learned to apply it to his own developing
play skills. It is a beautiful thing to see him take a piece of
paper, fold it in half and run around the room laughing and saying,
"butterfly...butterfly!"
I cannot
thank you enough for this wonderful series and hope that you will
consider publishing them on DVD as our 2nd set of videos is already
worn out and I will have to purchase another set soon. We have a
DVD player in our car, and he is constantly asking to watch your
videos...but alas we're forced into yet another round of Barney...

Hi!
I have a 3-year-old autistic son. When he was 2 1/2, he had no words
and I bought the first DVD in the hopes it would help teach him
some language. Well, in two weeks he was repeating the words and
signing them! He taught himself thru watching the DVD!!
So I bought the other two DVD's, checking every day for their release,
and again, my son was saying the words and signing. Now, I've been
holding my breath in anticipation of the next DVD release! I see
that the colors video will be out in DVD soon, how about the action
words series and the math series?? I look forward to ordering again,
and I just wanted to let you know that your videos have been awesome
learning tools for my son! Also, I very much appreciate the "freebies".
I printed off the alphabet and flash cards, hung the alphabet on
the wall, and worked with my son everyday. Now, he goes and says
each letter of the alphabet on his own, and he loves the flash cards
as well. Thank you so much and please keep those DVD's coming!!

When my
son was 2, and speech delayed, I ordered Volume Builder 1. It took
some time for him to develop an interest, but now, at 3 1/2, it
is his favorite video. I downloaded the flash cards, and
he knows all the words. I finally ordered Volumes 2 & 3 for
Christmas. He already loves them, too.
My
son was diagnosed with Autism at 28 months. I am VERY skeptical
of any company that markets to the Autistic community. Although
he is still non-verbal, his receptive language is really strong
and the Vocabulary Builder series is partially responsible for that.

I
just wanted to let you know how much our family LOVES your videos!
We found out our son has PDD when he turned 3. We purchased
the whole set of videos soon after, and played them for him and
our daughter who was 3 months old at the time. They
loved the videos instantly, and they still love them almost a year
later. My son has learned lots of words, and he especially learned
alot from the Action Words videos. My daughter who
is 13 months old now has an expressive vocabulary of about 55 words
(mostly thanks to your videos) and she understands many more words
that she just can't say yet. I'm amazed at how well she is doing.
Right now we're watching the Opposites video and it has helped my
son learn to answer "yes" to questions, which has been
a big hurdle for him. And my daughter is learning to say "Mine!".
We have ordered the Alphabet video and the Colors video and I can't
wait until they arrive.

I
cannot stop telling other mothers about your Baby BumbleBee series
of DVD's. I bought the 1st Vocabulary Builder approximately 1 month
ago. I read the reviews and figured I would give it a try.
I have a 4-year-old and 21-month-old, both boys. My 21 month old
was not talking. The Dr.'s were concerned and as an RN so was I.
I was beginning to think that perhaps he was mildly autistic due
to his language development and limited ability to interact socially
with others. The Dr.'s were giving him 2 more months to begin talking
before having "early intervention" interview him for speech
delays. I received your video with little expectation that this
would get him to begin expressing himself with language instead
of crying. (He was also not using any nonverbal communication for
us to identify his wants / needs). The first time I played your
Vocabulary Builder 1, he was awe struck. We have now watched the
video together at least 30 times (once a day). The results
are nothing short of miraculous. He is beginning to talk, and we
couldn't be more happy. We had tried for months to
get him to identify body parts (such as nose, mouth, ears, eyes),
with no luck. Just 2x's of watching your video he can now, not only,
identify these parts when asked, but can now say those words. My
husband and I cannot thank you enough. My 4 yr old also enjoys watching
the video, which I found surprising. So today I am on line to buy
the whole series. I plan to give my vocabulary 1 builder to a friend
(since I will now have 2 copies w/ my ordering the complete set).
I have told my pediatrician about your web site, and she plans to
refer other patient's mothers to try these videos. Again, thank
you. Your DVD was the answer to my family's prayers. -

Hi Liz!
My name is Tammy and I am a former elementary school teacher with
a Masters in Reading and am currently a Mommy to two beautiful children.
My son, age 4..McGuire, is autistic. My husband first found
your product on-line while researching autism. He ordered the large
set and it was the best thing he's ever done. My son was at first
not interested in the tapes...you know....no Barney and dancing
children but soon, he fell in love! He soon began understanding
that objects had names: His receptive and expressive language kicked
in. We were so thrilled but never thought that a big part of his
progress were your videos! After all, we do an intensive Verbal
Behavior (ABA) program in our home for 40+ hours a week. We then
moved on to Action Words and again, he started understanding and
tacting (labeling) actions of others and himself. I
was thrilled when I saw that you had a Colors video.....yes, you
guessed it....within two weeks of watching the video he started
to receptively and expressively identify colors!!!!!!!
I'm absolutely sold! I just ordered the opposites video. We've been
having problems with these in his program so we can't wait to use
the video to help him. I'm sorry to keep going on and on but you
must understand that when he "became" autistic at about
16-24 months of age, our world caved in on us. We have spent a small
fortune on games, programs, vitamins, etc.......it is actually refreshing
to find something that truly works and that he enjoys! Thank you
so very much for the gift you've given us; as well as the gift you've
given my son: language! ...I just want to get the word out so that
you can help others like you've helped us. In closing, I hope you
